2012 BOOK FAIR
This years Book Fair/ Literacy Festival was a huge success! We out did last years fair by two thousand dollars -- purchasing over 400 books. Rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar raised $220, combined with donations from businesses and parents we raised a total of $634.00 for ONE FOR BOOKS. We were able to purchase 70 books for the library and have two sets of books for our Book Clubs. What is even better Scholastic matches that money with 634 books to three charitable organizations: Toys for Tots, Kids in Distresses Situations or Kids in Need Foundation.
Thank you All for your participation in this years Book Fair / Literacy Festival: 31 Parent Volunteers, our 7th & 8th Grade Book Clubs, Lumen Christi student, St. Johns' Elementary, 6th grade info night families and of course all of our JCMS students, staff and families.--Many hours of Book Reading will be ENJOYED!
Thanks For Your HELP in Promoting LITERACY!
(Special Thank You to Mrs. Phia Mehalco for getting our books shelf ready!!)
Just a little info about our library here at JCMS
We have a monthly circulation of over 800 books. That is over 800 books are checked out of our library each and every month. Our students are using our library and definitely reading!!
We are constantly upgrading with new materials. We now have a computer lab as part of our library with 30 computers available for our students individual and classroom use all day.
Our yearly Book Fair held Catholic Schools Week, helps supply us with many new books that students are interested in, along with funding to take care of other library necessities.
We continue to upgrade our non-fiction sections as well as our fiction.
Mrs. Norkey reads all fiction books before they are put into circulation / sometimes with a litle help from adult volunteers.
